compared to other nations, the position of women in India is still at its bottom line.once i give out this statement there would be many people quoting many examples of women who had reached the topmost positions, then i tell them that the number of such women in India can be counted with fingers.
The problem here is,like in other nations India is even providing equal rights to women but where is the equality in utilisation of those rights. The thing is women though aware of the rights she has,she is still bonded with many responsibilities,it may be regarding their family or etc.

you may ask me what about the women in other nations?
It is an apt question.I do answer it in this way, there both men and women share their work but here most of the people do not.don't you think it's true.

according to me,the position of women in India will not change, if only women think that they are equal to men but even men should think women are equal to them and need to cooperate with them.

in bhagvad gita it is written behind every successful man there is a woman.to me i agree with this statement.today we are the leading countries among the developing ones.our economy is growing, gdp is growing,we have superior defence forces but do we know that this all atarted with the era of our 1st women prime minister mrs.indira gandhi.

it was in her rulership that we planned to have economic zones.it was she who almost eradicated terror in punjab.
today the people of punjab are living in peace because of near eradication of babar khalsa in punjab

I fully agree with Sweta, but I'd like to add some points to her comments it is not the whole nation not supporting to Indian Women, rathe, please correct me if I am wrong, the Indian women are being given as equal opportunity as any other developed nation. But the main hurdle between their development and freedom is they "themselves". Fundamentally they never enough fight for freedom, and for any resistance if they dont fight against they can never win. Afterall Nothing comes for free. In fact if we see recent changes, those who fought, won and they are successful too. But too be very frank ,how many fight against odds like against eve-teasing, rapes, social safety, dowry etc? Even if they keep crying that they're not getting enough of what they should, it's only their fight / openness / bravery. I wish if they'd come forward and try doing somthing and then ask, sure some results would come out.

As said by Sheetal "well position of indian women is not as respectful as other nations i think women at work are more respectful then women staying at home women deserve freedom but the not 100% safe in india", I agree but sume my question from her is "Do 100% women respect 100% women in India?" with whome are we comparing ourselves? are we any less as compare to them? where is the flaw? If you answer Indian Males, I'd raise a point if it's really true? In Indian males are still controlled by their parents, i.e. Mothers and Fathers... and as far as i know mother spents more time with kids, then how the misogynist (as most females name their opposite, in one way or other) males are born?
If you answer Its the SYSTEM, then... SYSTEM are we all...

well friends, everyone gave their personal opinion but I'm impressed with Neha as she was more close to put up the points in better way.

Position of women in India is better than some asian countries. But, when we compare it with some of the developed countries then ofcourse we are far behind. That is why we still have the tag of a "developing" country. But, looking at the improvement in the past few years the future looks bright. leaving aside the personal safety issues which women faces in every part of the world, today, the Indain women has a very respectable position before the world.

comparing aways brings competition , when we compare Position of Indian women to those of other countries we compare in terms of weightage given to them in all prospects.at present our country is ahead of some countries but to grow we need to look to those countries whioch r ahead of us .First of all we need to give secured enviornment to all women ,right from birth so that they become confident in early stages of life.

India being a developing nation is not as supportive for women as the developed nations are but women here have a lot more freedom than the Islamic nations. Women are all the more independent now, thought their safety is a very important issue, which needs attention. Making the society more safe n secure would enable them to grow and reach to the acme.

Yes women do deserve the best of everything. They do deserve freedom and most of all RESPECT. Increase in % of gangrapes, dowry system still existing here, show disrespect.
They deserve freedom but they should not be permitted for night shift as they r not 100% safe today also.....

Women in India are given a back-seat. the recent issue of inclusion of women in the army and a discussion is going on whether to allow women to work in night shifts or not. I think they deserve a lot more freedom and status in the society.
