  2. Yes, it could be. An engg. in a business field is of little use. He must stick to his line and once he has done his MBA his engg. degree is of little use.. he can use it in his decision making ability but not much of engg. and techinical know how is requd.

  4. engineers hav proves 2 b quite a boon 2 the buisness section.his aptitude is quite high and he can manage industries like it etc(tech) nfirms quite impeccably as he’ll know more bout the industry them commerce grads. So it cant b called a national waste.there r so many enginners in india nyways.nearly every1 taking up science after 10′th goes on 2 do engineering.where r the jobs 4 engineers

  5. I don’t think engineering student opting for mba is waste. In technical managers are required and these managers must have both managerial and technical skills which can be only affetively achieved by an engineering mba grad.Job of manager in technical field is not only limited to technical aspects they have to do managerial things like interacting with clients managing the resources and even if an engineer grad wants to open his firm he or she should have managerial skills

  6. Today we live in a global village which is shrinking every second and qualified proffesionals are the need of the hour in this world of fierce competition. An engineer equipped with a MBA degree is an asset, as he can manage his people more efficiently being a technician himself , becoz a manager’s grit is tested more at the bottom of the hierachy, a task made easier when he himself is a sound player. ultimately its about understanding the emotions involved of ur men involved that makes a good manager.

  7. Well , doing MBA after engineering makes an engineer also learn managerial aspects and hence increases the horizon of an engineer . Engineering degree along with that of MBA makes a good match as then that engineering would definitely prove a good manager for any company because he would also be having technical know-how . So , he would be able to detect if someone is mishandling the resources of the company in the guise of technological development. So , MBA degree really add a considerable value to engineering degree .

  8. i totally agree wid d fact dt engineering students doin mba is a waste…really they should be in their field…by doin mba they r neither a gud engineer..nor..a good manager..they r like jack of all trades nd master of none…i thnk there should be a law to prevent them to nt do mba…….

I dont agree with the statement above. Being in the technical field myself, after gaining the much required technical knowledge, to further grow in your career path you need managerial skills. though its not necessary to do an MBA but it is the pre requisite to have a management degree.
Apart from that engineering students are not at all blocking the paths for commerce grads, it is a competetive world and one who deserves wins no matter what his/her background is.

And infact now in MBA too there technical specialities apart from finance and marketting.

  10. I dont agree with the statement above. Most of the engineers today aspire to work independently. Infact many IITians have turned down the job offers from many reputed comapnies just to start up their own companies. A proper knowledge of management is required before taking such a step. So, be it an engineer or a commerce/arts graduate, every single person with such aspirations require to be in a B achool.

  11. well friends,i dont agree with the above statement,
many technical companies require manager n they too with managerial skills,so mba added to engineering is a great combination and of no waste

  12. engg wid mba i think its a boon for india but nt a nstional waste as they hav knowledg of workin scenario in industries n if u r in some technical group like bpl wipro seimens infosys lnt den u must hav well technical knowledge so that u can recruit a suitable person for ur company…if u r in marketin den u can estimate d suitable price for softwares n devices………
so engg wid d mba r not d national waste but d international growth………

  13. —Against
An engineer has comparatively better IQ level as well as far better reasoning abilities than say a BBA student since they have to go through tough syllabus which involves distinct imagination at times. So this ultimately leads to increase in reasoning power.
Also many tech industries require good managerial skills as well as good techies. So if any Co. hires a student with both qualifications, the work distribution could possibly be reduced thus benifiting the company.
