  1. FOR -
Yes, foreign tv channels are enchroaching upon the lives of young ones. They must be regulated before anything against our culture is potraited.
It haas a very harmful effect upon the youth and little ones.

  2. Against-
No. They must not be regulated since the parents have the discretion in educating the younger generation of what to cultivate and what onot to.
Since the world is increasingly becoming a smaller place we must be ready to embrace all other cultures and have a knowledge about it.
An Indian is an Indian and he knows to embrace his culture and preserve it.

  4. Yes, i completely agree priyanka. We are sufficiently mature to decide what is right and what is wrong?
and, first we have to define what iis our culture? We Indians consider rivers as our mothers , but our rivers are also most polluted.
And what do you think about the ssa-bahu sagas on the tv? they are telecastes on our own channels and we enjot them.

  5. AGAINST:- i agree with all 3 of u above
well airing of foreign channels really broadens our horizons abt many things as it provides many nuggets of info. about foreign countries , their culture etc.And moreover it depends upon oneself what one chooses to see depending upon one’s interests. Also one’s culture is developed by the environment in which one lives and it’s not this much shaky that it could be altered just by watching foreign channels.Well everything has its side effects so does foreign channels but it all depends upon one’s viewing habits and also on one’s rationale.

  6. It wont be fair enough to blaim the foreign channels. As stated by my friends it is the duty of we citizens to decide between the Right and wrong and decide accordingly. But i think the I &B ministy of india is working properly to have a check on these channels. Not only the foreign channels but the channels of our own country are copying the programs and broadcasting to a thousand of households.I think its high time that instead of putting it against the foreign channels as a whole the govt and people of india check their own channels. The contents destroying our culture starts from root of serials to films and film songs. So its high time that people and the coming generation are properly educated to differentiate between good and evil.

  7. No, I m not agree wiyh the point that foreign television channels are destroying our country. What is special about india, only that Indian people are more wisefull.if Indian people can understand what is right and what is wrong than i thing that foreign channel should not be a metter. It depends on us what we takes.

  8. For -
They have influenced the thinking of the youth in a negative way. More drug abuse etc., is happening.
Even the Govt. thinks so; the recent 3 month ban for AXN Channel for airing ‘ world’s most sexiest advertisements’. This also has raised eyebrows of quiet a few people.
Only thing is that these channels must not be banned but ‘Regulated’.

  9. What I think is that it will not be of any help regulating the channels coz as we all are well aware of , how easily nowadays explicit material is available to anyone. So it all depends upon one’s conscience rather than anybody else(Govt.) to build your rationale for the country’s or society’s betterment.

  10. Its a matter of viewing an aspect. Its true that the foreign television channels have westernised the youth in their thinking.Live-in relationships now are becoming too commonplace whereas the institution of marriage is gradually fading away. Our true indian culture opposes any pre-marital or extra marital relationships.
but it isnt only these channels to blame.Even indian channels air soaps portraying bold themes.

Culture depends on a person’s perception. In this fast movin world people believe in acting practical then stick up for our traditions and cultural beliefs.

Ultimately a person acts on his discretion and free will. For the excuse of preservation of culture foreign tv channels should not be banned or regulated. It will be a futile exercise as there are various other ways to access prohibited stuff.Besides, there a number of informative channels like discovery n animal planet which provide valuable knowledge.

  13. foreign channels should be allowed.when we r crying hoarse for free trade and barriers down for our IT and bpo services, it will not do good to the image of the by having a regulatory environment.it will have negative impact on our trade image.
regarding culture, no culture is pure.evry country has been givin and takin back somethin in its history.in this information age it will nt do good for the country to shut out its mind to the goings evry where. evry thing has an impact and its the indivduals to choose what is good for them and they r responsible for their choices.
I decry decison of this to regulate media environment and is attack on the fundamental rights, and this party has the tradition of least respect for human rights

  17. Against

A ban on foreign channels is definitely not the solution. Why are we turning a blind eye on the inumerable opportunities to information offered by these channels? yes, a certain regulation on the programmes aired will do good. Also, we, as reponsible citizens, shoulfd put a limit on waht to view and waht to be discarded. we should be well aware of the fact there is a curious younger generation looking up at us for models to emulate.

  18. i completely agree with some of my friends that its not the fault of the telivision channels its we who have to decide what we should view and what not.We are mature enough to decide our own culture And in turn these foreign channels are a medium for us to know about the world outside whats happening around us daily and they make us familiar with foreign cultures and traditions. We cant ban then or restrict them from showing anything instead its we who have to decide what to view and what not to view.

    Comment by Anchit — February 22, 2007 @ 8:32 am

  20. Its not fully true that foreign tv channels destroy our culure.look it is a very sensitive topic.channels like discovery, animal planet, cnn, bbc giving us very good knowledge about science and world. But channels like MTV VTV are totally play with our culture.there music also not so much good…there is only HANGAMA…
But friends take good things from those channels and leave the bad things

  23. Well , doing MBA after engineering makes an engineer also learn managerial aspects and hence increases the horizon of an engineer . Engineering degree along with that of MBA makes a good match as then that engineering would definitely prove a good manager for any company because he would also be having technical know-how . So , he would be able to detect if someone is mishandling the resources of the company in the guise of technological development. So , MBA degree really add a considerable value to engineering degree .
